Books or audio books are a great way to supplement therapy. It can be just as helpful if you decide to read on your own. ‘Knowledge is power’, is the intention behind the list. So, when you feel called to, carve out some time to take in these powerful works of art.
Lastly, keep in mind, there is a right time for everything. If you’re feeling uneasy, overwhelmed, physically tense, or more distracted than usual while reading, this can be an indication that what you’re ingesting is not good for you at this moment. Pause and ask yourself the following questions when you find yourself in this positon:
“Why am I having a hard time with the information I’m taking in?”
“What am I feeling in my body right now?”
“Did I want to read this book or did I feel like I had to read this?”
“Do I continue this book?” If yes, then “What do I need in order to continue this book?”
